ST. GERALD UNIFORM POLICY

ST. GERALD HAS A UNIFORM POLICY FOR THESE PRIMARY REASONS:

1. The manner in which individuals present themselves affects how they perceive themselves, how others perceive them, and how they perform in school.
2. The uniform policy fosters a sense of unity and equality within the school community.
3. School uniforms can prove to be economical for families.

Therefore, we want all of our students on regular school days (as opposed to casual days) to be dressed in a similar style of clothing, to be dressed comfortably, to be warm or cool, depending on the weather conditions, and to look nice, neat, and clean.

Established is a school uniform dress code that sets standards of modesty and respect for self. It is the parents’ responsibility to see that their child(ren) wear proper uniform clothing every day. It is the students’ responsibility to wear the proper clothing and show pride in themselves and their school. It is the teachers’ and staff’s responsibility to strictly enforce the school dress code. Students will be given one warning if they are out of uniform. After that, the student will be sent to the office to contact a parent to bring the proper clothing. Size-appropriate clothing - not too tight or too loose - must be worn at all times. (i.e., pants are to be worn at the waist and not at the hips).

We use two different uniform suppliers, parents may choose either one.

Other permissible school uniform clothing can be purchased at other retailers as long as the clothing matches our school uniform code criteria with regard to color and style. 

UNIFORM GUIDELINES FOR ALL STUDENTS

• PreK-5th Grade: 
  Royal Blue shirts ONLY – Polo Style with collar, maximum of 5 buttons, no logos, long or short sleeve.
  Navy School Sweatshirt - uniform store (Lion's Den)
  Navy Blue or Plaid Bottoms (shorts, skirts, skorts, jumpers, pants) 
  *Carpenter, Cargo, Jogger & Athletic Styles Not Allowed

  Middle School (6th-8th): 
  Black shirts ONLY - Polo Style with collar, maximum of 5 buttons, no logos, long or short sleeve.
  Black School Sweatshirt  - uniform store (Lion's Den)
  Khaki or Plaid Bottoms (shorts, skirts, skorts, pants) 
  *Carpenter, Cargo, Jogger & Athletic Styles Not Allowed 

  **All 3rd-8th grade students should wear a belt with bottoms having belt loops.**
